Job Requirements
Position Summary The Application System Analyst III Epic Outpatient Implementations is a senior technical and operational specialist responsible for supporting the planning, build, and implementation of Epic outpatient modules. This role partners with clinical, operational, and IT teams to design efficient workflows, build new outpatient departments, and deliver high-quality, compliant healthcare technology solutions.
Key Responsibilities - Epic Implementation
- Lead and support the design, build, testing, and go-live of Epic outpatient applications, ensuring alignment with clinical and operational needs.
- Workflow Analysis & Optimization
- Evaluate current workflows, identify improvement opportunities, and design optimized future-state processes in collaboration with clinical and informatics stakeholders.
- Requirements Gathering
- Facilitate sessions with end users and SMEs to gather and document business requirements, translating them into functional and technical specifications.
- System Configuration & Build
- Perform advanced Epic build, including orders, documentation tools, and decision support, in alignment with best practices.
- Testing & Validation
- Develop and execute test plans, validate system functionality, and resolve issues prior to deployment.
- Training & Go-Live Support
- Provide end-user support and guidance during implementation and go-live events.
- Project Leadership
- Serve as a project lead or SME, coordinating cross-functional efforts, tracking milestones, and reporting progress.
- Issue Resolution & Maintenance
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement enhancements to optimize user experience.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations and workflow decisions; provide regular updates to stakeholders.
- Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure all system changes align with regulatory requirements, organizational policies, and Epic standards.
Work Experience
Qualifications - Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Healthcare Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- EpicCare Ambulatory certification required.
- 35+ years of experience in Epic system analysis, build, and implementation, with a focus on outpatient workflows.
- Strong experience in workflow analysis, requirements gathering, and system configuration.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience collaborating with clinical informatics and technical teams.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate complex issues and guide solutions.
- Subject matter expertise in resolving advanced technical and functional challenges.
- Experience developing detailed application specifications and supporting system integrations.
- Ability to train and support end users, including train-the-trainer sessions.
- Strong collaboration and customer service skills, with the ability to work across all levels of the organization.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor teams, coordinate work, and ensure quality deliverables.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presenting findings and recommendations.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage competing priorities.
- Ensures adherence to system security, controls, and regulatory requirements.
- Proactively identifies opportunities to enhance system functionality and improve the end-user experience.
